Welcome Loughborough Fresher’s!!!
Congratulations on choosing one of the most prestigious universities in the country. Next step is picking your ‘Hall of Residence’ and even that’s not much of a decision. Cayley Hall is the home for you. Being relatively small with around 320 students, Cayley has incredible hall spirit! As a Fresher you will come to realise this the moment you get here.
Located in the student village, Cayley is placed in the most vibrant and lively position on campus. Living on the edge of the village is perfect, as a Fresher I found myself surrounded by convenience. Cayley is 5 minutes from the Loughborough union, closer than any other hall on campus (something that you will learn to love at 3 in the morning). A brisk 30 second walk will lead you to our campus shop, the ‘Purple Onion’ as well as our famous fast food takeaway ‘Papa Si’s’ (again a favourite after a night out)
For the sporty amongst you Cayley once again caters for your every need with the state-of-the-art rubber-crumb pitch virtually on your doorstep and LUFS gym only down the road. The 1st XI football pitch (aptly named Cayley pitch) and the professional water-based Hockey pitch are also within touching distance meaning you Fresher’s will never be short of some quality sport to watch. With so many facilities this close, you’d expect Cayley to be very competitive in the IMS (Inter Mural Sport) and we are. Both our male Football and Rugby teams posted top 3 finishes this season out of 16 halls, as well as our recent victory in Athletics that finished with Cayley taking 1st place overall.
Cayley is also renowned for its socials. We take any opportunity to dress up, as many of the pictures on our website demonstrate. I think that our current Cayley students will agree that the buzz that leads up to a big social produces some of the funniest/craziest nights we’ve ever had. We are so dedicated to our social cause that there is a bar in the union named after our famous hall. If you fancy a quiet night in Cayley also comes up trumps, with our TV room boasting an impressive array of entertainment from our table tennis and pool tables to our 46 inch Plasma screen, projector and surround sound. What more could you ask for!
Whatever you pick Cayley for, its sport, its social, its location, its reputation, you will love it. Choosing Cayley Hall will be the best decision you’ve ever made, trust us, we did it and we’ve never looked back.
