Hey, we’re Alex and Sophie and we are your Cayley Rag reps!
First of all, we’d like to say huge congratulations for getting into one of the UK’s top universities and a massive welcome to Cayley Hall!
A lot of people may or may not be familiar with what “Rag” is; it is in fact the fundraising section in every hall in Loughborough, and we compete each year to be the best hall at fundraising. To put it into perspective, Loughborough Rag is the biggest and most successful student fundraising organisation in the country and last year raised £1,134,500.66, breaking its own record!
Last year Cayley also raised £30,000 towards this; with your help, we’re aiming to raise Cayley even higher this year – so make sure you get involved for unforgettable experiences, once in a lifetime challenges and amazing events…all in the name of charity!
We want anyone and EVERYONE to get involved in Cayley Rag; we have a hell of a lot planned to make sure you have the best experience possible! Rag involves a huge variety of things from money collecting in cities around the country (“rag raids”), to weekend marshalling, marathons and so much more. Sign up for the events at “Choose a Challenge” – a night held at the Students Union in October where you will have the opportunity to see and sign up for all our events throughout the year. First in the proceedings is Loughborough’s very own Mayors Parade where every hall has a theme, every hall has a float and every hall has the chance to be crowned as the Lord Mayor’s Best Float in the Parade! Straight after Freshers we will also have the Fireworks Extravaganza, Escape & Evade and Lost; not to mention Climb Kilimanjaro, skydiving, Everest Trek, Tough Guy, the cycle from London to Paris and much much more. You see, there really is something for everyone!
Getting involved in Rag will really enhance your experience here at Cayley and at Loughborough. It will without a doubt add a wealth of experience to your CV and is a brilliant way of getting actively involved with the university. It will also give you the chance to get involved in Cayley’s hall committee and be elected as a Cayley Rag Rep yourself; from here you can even become part of Loughborough Rag committee and begin to build a career – the opportunities are endless! Most importantly though, Rag is fun; you are guaranteed to meet and learn from so many other people – the social side is incredible and with this much entertainment all for the sake of charity, Cayley Rag really is worth being part of.
